MTN Backs Titans of Tech 2013 Conference

Leading information communications technology (ICT) firm, MTN Nigeria, has thrown its weight behind the 2013 edition of the prestigious Titans of Tech conference and exhibition.
Speaking to newsmen in Lagos weekend, Don Pedro Aganbi, Managing Consultant, Technology Africa, praised the ICT giant for again demonstrating its commitment to contributing to the continued growth and development of the Nigerian economy.
According to him, “MTN’s support and endorsement of the Titans of Tech 2013 is based on the firm belief and conviction that the conference will engender further growth of Nigeria’s telecommunications sector and indeed ICT market, which has experienced phenomenal growth in the last decade.

With the theme “Broadband, Data Centres and the Quest for Inclusive Society” the conference will afford MTN and indeed all other sponsors ample opportunities to reveal the extent of their investment in Nigeria and the growing need to promote access to broadband across the country.
The ICT enthusiast noted that the Titans of Tech, now in its eighth year, would provide a platform for government to present its plans/policies and the private sector to provide insights into challenges, opportunities, available solutions and options in deploying infrastructure to support the emerging digital economy. In addition it is a great opportunity for networking and forging strategic partnerships amongst key stakeholders in the sector.
Mr. Aganbi revealed that ICTs have proven to offer immense potential to development which explains why many African countries have in the last decade witnessed a rapid development of their ICT infrastructure.
He stated “We believe it is imperative to continue to encourage the development of robust, reliable and affordable ICT infrastructure that supports and enables the provision of a multiplicity of applications and services to meet the needs of the country and its people”.
Titans of Tech 2013 conference and exhibition is scheduled to hold at the Oriental Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos, April 12, 2013.
Participants at the high-octane forum includes local and International Infrastructure Providers firms, policy makers in Government including Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Science & Technology, National Assembly, Nigerian Communications Commission, NITDA, Ministry of Education, among others. Other include ICT Solutions Providers, top Executives in the public and private sector organizations, decision makers in Banks and non-bank financial institutions, leading oil and Gas industry operators, international Funding and Development Agencies and ICT consultants and content providers.

YOUTH LEADER CALLS FOR CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM OF GOVERNMENT

Fellow concerned colleagues, for the fact that squalor and poverty lay behind Abuja’s glittering facade  I will continue to criticize government inadequacies and inefficiency constructively till our inequalities are addressed and contained through a unique programme for social redistribution.

Let us criticize reasonably and proffer solutions accordingly.

Federal allocations, derivation accounts, proposed 10% allocation to oil communities as contained in the Petroleum Industrial Bill (PIB), are all meaningless without direct impact on our social and economic development.
Due to crass ineptitude, avarice, and corruption with impunity, government allocations and revenues have ended into the private pockets of our prowling political vultures, less of transparency and accountability.

As youths; the strength of the nation, let our actions and inactions not continue to be bereft of reasoning and cultural history that is dragging this nation inexorably to intellectual sterility and political mayhem.

The centenary celebration should be an occasion for us to gloriously celebrate our Economic Freedom, not just political emancipation. Let us work collectively to address these challenges.

Our lawmakers should live above board, from independence to date; there is no basic law in our constitution that adequately addresses the concerns of ordinary Nigerians. It has been business as usual.
Hatching eggs for themselves and their political godfathers. Over – sight function has being an avenue for financial enrichment, rather than what it ought to be.
Endorse Social Redistribution and lay a constitutional Instrument for it.

Let the mandate of every elected political officer be for the welfare of ordinary people.

I duly believe that only political revolution can adequately contain and address our concerns, not just an ephemeral political agenda to win Aso Rock  seat of power.

Thanks.

Ahaoma Kanu, CNN Award Winner Appointed COO PDP Publicity Team

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Mr. Ahaoma Kanu, an award winner and a seasoned journalist with the CNN, as Chief Operating Officer of the party’s publicity team.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Olisa Metuh, made this known in a statement he issued on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said that the decision was taken by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) as part of measures to consolidate on the party’s editorial team.
The PDP spokesman said that the party’s website and its official magazine“the umbrella’’ had been repackaged ahead of the 2015 general elections.
This, he added was part of programmes of the party’s publicity directorate geared toward ensuring that it maintained its “preeminent position’’ in 2015, in spite of the antics of opposition parties.
“The PDP website will have a contemporary outlook and multimedia components making it a useful tool for the younger generation of Nigerians to be more actively involved in the activities of the ruling party.
“In the same vein, the party’s official magazine; the umbrella, has been repackaged and upgraded to have more content.
“It will focus on development strides recorded by the party at the federal, state and local government levels in the country, ’’ Metuh said.
